Calais Estate is a completely self-contained boutique winery that manages all aspects of the winemaking process, from the growing and harvesting of its own grapes through to the creation of its broad range of traditional wines and rare varietals. The process begins in the Estate’s twenty acres of working vineyard, which is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay. During vintage, the grapes are harvested and transferred to the Estate’s Winery where they are nurtured from juice to the bottle by Calais’ Winemaker, Adrian Sheridan. Calais Estate was awarded the “Best Cellar Door” in the Hunter Business Awards five years in a row 2004 ,2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008. Under the watchful eye of its winemaker and winery’s owners, the Bradley Family, Calais Estate continues to release some of the very best wines available in Australia and deliver the Complete Hunter Experience. The Cellar Door is open between 9am and 5pm, seven days a week. |
